Darragh is currently completing an MA in Performance and Musicology at Maynooth University. He is specialising in piano performance under the tutelage of Niall Kinsella. Darragh has competed and was successful in many competitions. He was awarded the title of the Most Promising Pianist in the Arklow Music Festival. He has also attained various awards in his academic career, graduating with a Double First in a BA International in German and Music and obtaining various awards such as the Advanced MUSE Award and an award obtained from the Swiss Embassy.
As part of the Erasmus programme, he spent a year studying music in the University of Vienna in Austria. During this time, he studied music through German, attended lessons under pianist Niall Kinsella and performed as a piano accompanist in one of Vienna’s main opera houses, performing an adaptation of Goethe’s Faust with Jugend an der Wien.
In addition to the piano, Darragh is an avid singer and has performed as a soloist and as a core ensemble singer in the aforementioned Faust. His ensemble experience includes membership of Maynooth Choral Society, Maynooth University Orchestra, University of Vienna Symphonic Choir. Venues he has performed in include the National Concert Hall, the Helix, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Theater an der Wien and der Musikverein in Vienna.
Along with performing, Darragh has set up a music school, in which he teaches all levels and ages. He is an Associate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music (obtaining honours in this), and also works within the Music Department of Maynooth University.
