Women of Fashion
10th April to 5th November
Lady Kildare’s Room, First Floor
Admission to the exhibition is included in your ticket to the house.
Women of Fashion comprises five eighteenth-century women’s court gowns from the Berkeley Costume Collection. It includes elaborate silk and embroidered gowns made in France, Italy and England. On display in Lady Kildare’s Room, these gowns are examples of the dress worn by aristocratic women like Lady Louisa and her sister Emily, Duchess of Kildare.
Countess Ann Griffin Bernstorff, the Irish artist and collector, assembled the Berkeley Costume Collection over twenty years ago, as a private passion from her own family trunks and from auctions and donations.
